Army Mountaineering Association Tajikistan Expedition 2018
Planning is underway for a July/August 2018 expedition to a remote and relatively unexplored region of the Pamirs in Tajikistan, with the intent to make Alpine-style ascents of previously unclimbed 5000m and 6000m peaks.  An area of the Zaalayskiy Range south of the Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan border has been identified, which contains a number of 6000m peaks with no recorded ascents.  There are also numerous peaks in the area which offer potential for new routes.

The expedition would aim to make first ascents of these peaks and explore new routes on several other peaks in the area.

The duration of the expedition will be approximately 5 weeks.

Pre Expedition Training Plan

Summer 2017 - two weeks of summer Alpine mountaineering in the European Alps, this will be an opportunity for AMF and Alpine QMDs to be gained.

March 2018 - one week of Scottish winter mountaineering, an opportunity to gain winter QMDs and develop team cohesion, test own kit and equipment etc.  Possible scope for delivery of WMF.

June 2018 - Long weekend in North Wales - initial briefs, confirmation of plans, a bit of a social get-together and another opportunity for team leaders to get out on the hills with other team members.
